District Nine comprises 32 Altrusa Clubs across Texas. The Board of Directors represents all Clubs at the higher level of the organization. These are the District Nine Board of Directors for the 2009-2011 Biennium.
Governor Kathy Folley
Kathy Folley has been a member of Altrusa International, Inc. of Temple since 1993. In her spare time, she is an Administrative Assistant for the Engineering Group of Wilsonart International Inc. She is married to Bud Folley and has two daughters, a son-in-law, and five amazing grandchildren, plus two four legged babies named Maggie and Sam. Her husband’s hobby is golf—her hobby is Altrusa.

Governor-Elect LaVone Arthur
LaVone Arthur has been a member of Altrusa International Inc. of Downtown Dallas since 1986. LaVone is Vice President of Finance at Baylor Health Care System. She is married to Jack Arthur and has a 10-year-old stepdaughter, Caroline. The other two members of her family are 3-year-old Shih-Tzu Rascal and 2-year-old Yorkie-Tzu CoCo. In her spare time, she enjoys theater, music, and cooking (actually, eating Jack’s cooking).
First Vice Governor Beth Blair
Beth Blair has been a member of Altrusa International Inc. of Dallas since 1997. Beth received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She is proud to work as an editor for the national office of the Boy Scouts of America. When she finds a spare minute, Beth enjoys cross-stitching, reading, and crafts, and has been known to let off steam at the batting cage. Beth and her fiance, Scott, live happily in Lewisville, Texas, with three four-legged kids.

Second Vice Governor Laura Trainor
Laura Trainor became a member of Altrusa International Inc. of Northeast Dallas County in 1998 and is a chartering member of the Garland Club. She is an audiologist with a master’s degree from the University of North Texas. Laura opened a private practice audiology center in Garland in 1997. She is currently serving her second term as president of Garland Federation of Clubs. Laura is engaged to her long-time sweetheart, Thomas Collins, and they plan to marry in the near future.

Treasurer Terry Lechler
Terry Lechler has been a member of Altrusa International Inc. of The Brazos since 1996. Terry received Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Baylor University majoring in business and accounting. She is the director of financial services for McLennan Community College. Terry has been married to Doyle for 31 years and they have one son, Matthew, who is 23 years old. In her spare time, she likes to read and do crossword puzzles.
Director Cheryl Russell
Cheryl Russell has been a member of Altrusa International, Inc. of Nacogdoches since 1989. Cheryl graduated from Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1981 and is co-owner of North Street Veterinary Clinic in Nacogdoches. She is married to Ken Russell and has a 4 1/2 year- old son, Logan. There is no spare time, but if there was, she would enjoy painting, photography, golf, reading, guitar lessons, gardening, and cooking.
Director Sylvia Zamora
Sylvia Zamora has been a member of Altrusa International since.1999 and is currently a member of Altrusa International Inc. of San Antonio. Sylvia received a BS and Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas-Pan American. She is an educational consultant and also manages her family business-ZAMTEX Investments. Sylvia has been married to her high school sweetheart, Ruben, for 34 years and they have two children. Lauren, an Altrusan, is a practicing attorney in San Antonio.and their son Aaron is a student at the University of Texas-San Antonio. Still living at home are Saity and Sasha, their two schnauzers. Her hobbies includes reading, antiquing, and attending musicals and sports events.
Immediate Past Governor Brenda Tucker
Brenda Tucker has been a member of Altrusa International Inc. of Pampa since 1988. She has enjoyed the many benefits of being an Altrusan, from learning leadership skills to meeting other wonderful women throughout the District and Internationally. Brenda and her husband, Dan, have two married daughters, three grandchildren, a black lab, a beagle and a gray tabby cat. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
