Altrusa International of Austin is dedicated to improving our community through leadership and service opportunities for our members.  Literacy and education for children and families are our focus areas with emphasis on supporting local foster children.

The Austin Altrusa club was chartered in April 1923 and was the first club to charter in Texas. The Altrusa Austin club functions with a strong leadership team, board of trustees and a committee system allowing every member to be involved in club projects and decisions.

Examples of recent service projects include Foster Angels “Book Nook” for foster children, Travis Country Child Protective Services – book and toy donations and “Foster Room Cleaning”, Angelheart “Birthday Bags” for foster children, Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child”, Neighborhood Longhorns “Teacher Supplies Drive”, Handbags for Hope etc. We host fundraisers and rely on grants to fund our programs each year.

The club meets on the third Tuesday of every month.
